WoW raiding
From ATFWiki
REVISED 05-06-2009: Updated several sections to reflect changes due to the expansion, server transfer, and policy updates.
Please take a few minutes to review and familiarize yourself with the following important details regarding how Allied Tribal Forces makes decisions regarding, and operates during, raids. Any updates or revisions will be announced, but please check back occasionally to be sure. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding this thread, please direct them to an ATF officer.

PART I: GENERAL
- We use TeamSpeak for optimal communication, and being logged in is a mandatory requirement for all ATF members on all raids. Please have TS downloaded and set up on the ATF Server in advance. Full login details are available here. Please be logged in even if you do not have a mic! As the vast majority of our communication is done verbally, if you cannot hear then you will not know whats going on for most of the raid.
- Everyone on the raid must have a threat meter add-on such as Omen Threat Meter installed and active.
PART II: START TIME
- The posted start time is when we pull, not when we form the group.
- By the posted start time, all attendees should be online and in the instance, fully stocked with whatever they will need for the run, and fully buffed. When applicable, please be sure to allow time for server queues to ensure that you are ready to pull at start time.
- Invites begin 30 minutes before the start time.
- If you will be cutting it close to raid time (less than 10 minutes before start time), please be sure to log - fully prepared - outside of the appropriate instance, and that you confirm either online with an officer or via a forum post that you will definitely be there in order to secure your spot.
- If you have signed up but are not logged on at least 10 minutes before the start time to accept an invite, you may be replaced unless you have communicated a late login per above.
PART III: ATTENDANCE
- Sign-ups via the in-game calendar or the WoW Armory are strongly encouraged. Please note that you can always change your selection later if needed.
- Signing up does NOT guarantee a spot on the raid, as it is only 1 of 3 factors used in determining who will be attending. The other 2 factors are 'vital role' and, when applicable, 'previous attendance'.
- 'Vital role' will not be defined here, as it will vary depending on the destination and/or the point at which we left off. The 4 main roles of tank, healer, DPS, and crowd control must be sufficiently satisfied before any other factor can be considered.
- The final factor is attendance of a previous raid. This is only applicable in the case of a multi-night raid, such as Naxxramas. We will not unfairly exclude a previous attendee from the later parts of a raid if they have contributed to earlier parts.
- Attendees will be selected to fulfill vital roles first and foremost to minimize frustration and maximize success. Then we will consider those who signed up for the event, starting with any previous attendees.
- If you feel you have been made to sit out of raids for longer than is fair despite being available, please speak up. We do not want to exclude anyone unfairly, and in this case an officer would be happy to sit out and allow you to participate.
PART IV: LOOT
- We do not use DKP or any form thereof.
- Each player is allowed one contested epic and one contested Tier token per run.
- Example: A tanking ring drops and the MT wins after a roll-off with the OT. If a tanking cloak later drops and is again needed by both, it will go to the OT by default. If a shield drops later still, they will each be able to roll again. By contrast, if none of these drops would be an upgrade for the MT, all 3 would go to the OT, and vice versa.
- We try to distribute epic drops as fairly and evenly as possible. If you receive a drop during the run - even if it was not contested, you will not be able to later roll on an item needed by someone else if they have not received anything yet. This rule does not apply if you take an unneeded item that would have just been sharded otherwise (such as a sidegrade that you want to further consider, or a off-spec item).
- An alt will not be permitted to roll on an item that is needed by one or more main. An exception to this rule is in the case that one is essentially forced by the raid to bring an alt for the purpose of fulfilling a necessary vital role, at the risk of losing their spot in the raid. In this rare circumstance, you will be expressly informed at the time you are requested to switch characters that you will be permitted to roll.
- All BoE items and other valuables (such as cards or gems) will be picked up by the Master Looter during the raid. Any greens will later be disenchanted and the mats placed in the guild bank, along with any blue BoE items and other valuables.
- If you see a BoE item drop that no one has claimed and would be an upgrade for one of your alts, please speak up. As long as we do not feel you are requesting/have requested and unreasonable amount of items, we would be happy to see them go to use.
- Unwanted BoP items will be given to an enchanter to disenchant. Any resulting shards or crystals should be given to the Master Looter or be placed in the guild bank after the run.
